I think many of the "never known duck hunting without SWDs" and "I have become dependent upon them" generation will either stay home or move to the WMAs that do allow them. Or learn how to do more than flip a switch on 20 gadgets.

what sparked this? were the harvest numbers down for those WMAs? isn't the mallard population increasing for that flyway? just curious if it was to help the birds, or more to protect traditions?

Quality of hunt issue. Same reason Michigan banned them on all WMA land years ago.

Best news I've heard all day!! Now we can go back to sitting 500+ on the water.

Skybusting, or the art of trying to magically propel steel shot 100 yards into the air at a passing duck, is a sure-fire way to ruin your own chances, and everyone else’s chances, at actually killing a duck.

Great news now all they need to do is eliminate the 4 am crazy launch time.

This is terrible for two reasons:

    1. What the Hell are we going to argue about when the ducks flair?

    2. How can I get a RMA # for three of these sweet new rigs I just bought?

Meanwhile here in SC, our Department of Natural Resources turns a blind eye to live decoys...

it's nice and all this is happening in Ark, but how do we get them banned here, along with tamie shoots?

Sitting by myself one morning, I wondered what would keep someone from taking two or three tamies with them on public water, weighting them down so they couldn't fly, and blasting them before heading back to the landing, claiming they were part of the bag limit?

My hold the hole guy just got one that will do 48 MPH. I can sleep two extra hours now and do not have to charge batteries for a robo.

Good question. Or is hunting over live decoys only allowed on private ponds?

JAB the amount of effort over the past two years has been unreal to get this ban. The majority of hunters in AR wanted it for all WMAs but are happy with what they got. They see it as a first step to eventually getting them banned on all WMAs. It was something that a group felt very strongly about and they took the time and money to spearhead a push to have them banned. Meetings, lunches, hunting trips, videos, research, past studies and a huge push from the public made it happen DESPITE the fact that an entire generation of hunters have grown up knowing nothing other than a SWD. Despite the fact that a huge number of "new" hunters are totally and completely dependent upon them.
I personally do not see much difference between a SWD and an electronic call or baiting, or live decoys.
Start the movement and I bet many would follow.
