    Default Which truck?

Got the news of my first child on the way in the beginning of May. Looking at trucks that are family friendly. Chevy Silverado crew cab, Toyota Tundra, Toyota Tacoma double cab, and Nissan Titan. For the money which is my best option overall? Reliability is key to me over supplier.

I absolutley love the Tacoma but I personally believe that a small sized truck does not warrant their price tag. May Dad has a '14 crew cab Tacoma and it is a very nice truck but it is still pretty small. I would go, Tundra, Silverado, Ram if I were buying a new truck.

Def won't be a Dodge or Ford! Chevy and Toyota are first choices then my fall back plan is the Nissan. I knew this post would be controversial. Anyone have any experience with the Titan's?

Personally know someone who bought a new 4 door 4wd Tacoma from Dave Edwards Toyota, drove it 4 years, paid it off, traded it in last month for a new one and only came out of pocket $10k. That's pretty strong.

Toyotas hold there value well. I had a 02 base model reg cab 4x4. Put 155,000 miles on it and sold it at 11 years old for 2,100 less than the original sells sticker that was still in the dash. But on the other hand we just went thru the new truck thing with my dad 3 months ago. We drove every damn truck on the market. Chevy and dodge 1500's, titians, tundras, and tacomas. He ended up buying a 15 F150 with a 5.0. None of the others held a candle to the ford in fit and finish and overall performance in our opinion.

He isn't buying one to sell it tommprrow. He is buying one the keep it four or 5 years I would think. Track record for 20 years GM resale has killed the market.

The 4.0 V6 that the tacoma has is a great motor. I have 2 in my driveway. My truck has 160,000 and just keeps on going. My mileage is 17ish in town and 20 on the hwy that's with 265/75/16. My wife's 4runner gets 22 on the hwy and 18 in town. I have ridden in all the new trucks. Toyota just doesn't offer a bunch of bells and whistles. I don't think that the tacoma even rides all that great compared to others. The fact of the matter is you will pay a little more up front and less over the life of the truck.
