I was told that you do not need a permit to carry a side-arm from and to fishing and hunting.Thinking of buying a pistol , had a problem with some **** early one morning while turkey hunting and could not get to my shotgun in the truck.

That is true, as long as you are going to or from hunting/fishing you can have a pistol on your person.
"You are Citadel Men, you have no pension for failure, you wear the Ring, you never let a friend down, you will be good fathers, husbands, and leaders in the armed forces and industry, you are strong in heart, body, and mind. You protect such things as Honor and Fidelity. Your virtues matter not only in wealth, but in the richness of family, you are the last of the knights."

I think it's true for hunting, fishing and hiking.

You cannot carry it concealed however and you should stick it in a closed glove box or closed trunk while riding the car.

Don't brandish a gun. Nobody should know you have it until it goes off. Avoid situations in which you might need a gun. If you find yourself in a situation where you fear for your life or safety, have no other escape and have to use it, realize you might still be charged with a homicide and have to clear yourself in court. If you convince the jury you were in unavoidable peril when you shot the creep, you still may have some civil court battles to fight.

Just remember to and from hunting or fishing does not include stopping at the zippy mart for gas. At all times allowed by law, you can carry it in the closed glovebox or console. This of course assumes that you are at least 21 and not otherwise prohibited from possession.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.
