    Default smallmouth

First ever smallmouth. A nice SCDUCKer told me where to try for one, in SC. Out of courtesy I cleaned up the picture before posting. I really didn't know what to fish with, and started out with a few clousers on my fly rod. Gave up that after 3 hours. Put a small crank bait on my ultra light (5lb) and caught this guy on the second cast. He put on a show, maybe four jumps. After a few minutes he got hung up on the bottom in some trash. I reached down under the water searching, and finally was able to lip him. Caught a few more after that, but smaller. This fish are damn fun to catch

Nice fish. I went yesterday as well and to be completely honest I was pretty disappointed. I use to go and hardly see anyone out there. Now there are people everywhere not to mention guys keeping 4 plus pound fish. Saw a couple of jetboats as well. Yesterday may have been just a slow day but I don't know.

What do yall think about the size limit on smallies. I personally like it the way it was. I always kept a few small ones to eat and threw back the 2 plus pounders. Now it seems they are encouraging people to keep the larger breeding stock. I do agree with the 5 per person limit though.

If that Horry county crowd ever finds their location, they will be extinct. They throw nothing back.

I did see 8-10 people in a 2 mile stretch by my place. Normally it's completly vacant. They were killing top water yesterday.
