All of that work and pretty pictures will be for naught when that pigweed rears its ugly head...

Knock on wood, we are actually sitting pretty at the moment. The second round of pre-emerg kicked its ass.

    I hope you're right.

    However, I have my doubts.

    That's what I do.

Except, I usually get fed up with it by the middle of July and quit... which is totally counter-productive.

    Prayers sent.

Put enough space between your 4 rows to get a 4 wheeler with a tank on the back down. That's what I've done in the past and it works like a champ.

My dove field is planted by a farmer friend.

It's clean enough you can eat off the ground... not really, but you get the picture.

I'm bitching about pigweed in my pastures. I hate that shit.

Out of curiosity, what's that farmer charge you and how many acres?

I plant my own now, but I wouldn't mind paying someone to do it for me. Just looking for a rough estimate so I know a ballpark figure if I ever looked into it more.

    I'm not tellin'...

It's not my field. Just a field I hunt.

I'm not sure what he charges, but he doesn't think it's enough. He does plant for some folks around his place here and there, but I'm not sure he loves doing it.

I know what it costs him to plant his personal field (the field I hunt). It's exorbitant. Between seed, lime/fertilizer, chemicals, and time... it gets up there in a damn'd hurry.

well you see....this is how I APPARENTLY get a bad rap around here. Trust me....IF I had doves, I would enjoy inviting people. I am pretty sure only a couple of FF board members and millero have ever come to hunt with me.

Nick--you know you are invited any time. PM me when the season rolls around...
