It is very clear you have never gigged. But that is expected of a yank
Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

Do you shoot turkeys with a rifle? Do shoot wood duck roosts? Learn how to fish and you won't need no gig!

Every "old salt flounder fisherman" I know, (and I know several) would backhand bitch slap you for being an idjit, and spit bakker juice on your forehead while you wallered on the dirt wondering WTF just happened....

And, most that I know of would then get in their boat to commence an epic gig trip.

Cotton your feet must taste real good because you keep putting your foot in your mouth !! It takes more stars to line up to put a succesful gigging trip together than it does to put a fishing trip together . And as far as ask an old sat what he thinks bullshit , do you think gigging was started by this new fangled Justin Bieber flat bill salt water fishing crowd in 2006 ? Hell no !! And just for the record I'm so salt life I get land sick !! Carry on .

My Grandfather would be well over 100 now, and he grew up flounder gigging with a torch. Then later on they switched to lanterns. The new comers or Yankee visitors had to drag an innertube tide around their waist with hay cord to tote the cooler full of slabs.

Lets talk about your "20 incher" you lost at the boat, fish poet. A couple of things...your inability to tie a knot, or fight a fish to the net yields a stainless kahle hook in the gut of a decent flounder, the flounder swims off to die a slow and agonizing death. But, you are upset that out of a couple of nights a month, folks use lights to gig flounder.

Perhaps you just arent cut out for SCDucks, or for much of anything of any use for that matter. BTW, I missed you at the Crawfish festival in Columbia this year.

My Great grandfather wrote an article in the Beaufort newspaper (gazette I think) in the 40's about flounder gigging.
    Lanterns and such... cool stuff.

Hopefully I'll get the framed hand-me-down to hang in my house one day.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

I completely agree with you on the history of gigging. The technology has changed trendously since the down of the practice. With modern generators, led's, etc, I don't see how a flounder stands a chance! Now if you want to go out with a couple kerosine lanterns hung over the front with spear on the end of a cane pole, have at it....I'll go too!!

If everybody gigged they would wipe them out!
Have you ever been gigging? By your posts, most giggers would assume not.

No I have not. I have however seen a lot of Facebook posts from people who have their entire decks covered in flounder from gigging that do it pretty regularly. Must be feeding the entire family plus the neighborhood.
