Looking at planting about 4-5 acres in corn this spring for the upcoming deer season...Ive planted Limbercob before and had success but nothing of this size..Any recommendations on the best corn to plant for this situation? Does it really matter?

limbercob? never heard of that particular variety; please enlighten me.
Personally for stuff like deer plots and the like I buy what is called field corn from our local co-op. ive also heard it referred to as mule corn. its the cheapest stuff they have available. I still have some standing in one plot; just havent got around to bushhogging it yet.
Remeber all the seed in the world wont do any good if you dont have the proper nutrients in the soil. get soil samples first and go from there.
Limbercob is more of a table corn, gets about 12-13 ft high but is more expensive I would imagine than the field corn you are talking about... Yes sir I plan on getting my soil tested

Yeah I believe the limbercob was around $2.50 lb so the field corn would be real affordable

big buck corn, damn
There are so many variables. What's your soil like?

last soil sample I took last summer was like 6.2, its pretty well drained, not red mud or real loamy, just your standard dirt I reckon

I like big buck corn as well.
More fuel = more boost!!
6.2 is good for pH. Go talk to your local seed salesman. You need two bags of seed probably. You probably do not need triple stax or a lot of the other technology. Look at dekalb, pioneer, Augusta, agrotech seed

Ok I will check those out
