    Default New shotgun

Just found out from the gun smith my 1187 will cost more to repair than its worth.I'm looking at buying something new.I looked at the new browning A5's but man 1400.00 is double what I paid for the 1187.are they worth the money?any suggestions on a new auto shotgun?

For $1400.00 you can get a Beretta. Buy the Beretta.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

If your 1187 is the 3in chamber or if that's what youre looking for, the Beretta a300 is a 3in gun that points very close to an 1100 or 1187. Also retails for $700-750. I think that is the very best gun for the money. The only thing that is different between those guns is where the safety is located.

What could be wrong with it that costs that much? Just curious.

Not sure what the part is called.it pulls the shell out of the magazine and lifts it to the bolt to go into the chamber.the part has a stud holding it to the side of the inner receiver.the stud sheared off.it is welded or soldered into the receiver.they would have lo locate the hole from the outside and re drill it and solder a new one back in.or send it back to the factory and god knows how long that would take.the gun is about 14 years old.it's seen it's better days.I've had to have work done on something in the trigger housing being bent before to.thanks for the input.

Unless the barrel is split and the action is completely ruined, nothing could be that wrong with an 1187. He took his gun to the wrong gunsmith.

I had the entire action inside the receiver of my Silver Pigeon replaced for just a shade over $200.

Can't help you with the upstate. There is a good guy in Williams, but that is a long way from you.
