Default New Federal Turkey Load - 3RD DEGREE

I assume this is Federal's answer the Winchester LB shells.

    5x6x7 blend.

    40% #5 copper plated lead
    20% #6 "flitestopper" lead
    40% #7 heavyweight 15g/cc tungston

    $20.00 per box of five.

The "stacking" of the shot should allow for a wider pattern at 20 yards with the #5 and #6 lead leading the pack, and then he #7's leading the way for downrange performance.

I will try a box to see what it does, doubt I would ever use it above the Nitro's though. Still could be a good load for someone wanting to save a dollar or two.

X100 The pixy dust is the cats ass when it comes to sub gauges and turkeys. Don't know that I'll ever shoot 1 with a 12 gauge again

I like the pixie in 12 gauge. Deader than dead is always good !

To me it looks like a fancy name and a fancy box with a similar load. I like my Fed. Heavy weights

If they wanted to make an awesome shell they would load their HW 7's without the FC wad. Problem solved

I seems like they were sitting in a board meeting one day and someone said:
"Hey, what are we going to do with all this leftover copper plated shot and flitestopper shot." Then someone else said, "Let's pack it all in a turkey load and market it that way!"

Agreed. The FCW is holding them back from dominating the turkey shot and HTL world. Damn thing is too finicky.

Word on the street is that Hevi-Shot will be gracing us with the presence of a new load for 2015. We'll see what they do to screw up their loads once again.

Got a buddy that handloads these same heavy 7 pellets and gets in the 230s with a 20 ga.

Until Federal does away with the FCW I am not interested. The 20 ga FCW can be made into a killer, but the 12 ga is too finicky. Federal is holding themselves back. Load HWs without the FCW and you will take over the Factory loaded shotgun shell market.
