    Default North Carolina hunt

Got invited to go with a buddy and his father's friends to go shoot some birds in Nags Head this past weekend. Great opportunity to get some awesome experience for the dog and see some new hunting landscape. Stayed 3 days. Birds didn't cooperate as well as we'd hoped due to the whole sound being frozen over.Mostly just buffleheads and redheads. Buffles were passed on. Loved watching the big groups of redheads commit and circle a few times before landing (trying to) in the decoys. Was able to pick out the drakes and was a really fun weekend. Rook did awesome work, as he learned to climb a ten foot ladder up into the blinds and also how to work his way down them. All in all that place is beautiful and I hope to go back soon. Here are some pictures. Enjoy

This is the impoundment that they decided wasn't a good idea to leave. Swans, pintail, shovelers, gadwall, wigeon, scaup, and redheads

That sunrise over the decoys picture should be blown up, framed, and put on the wall of the man cave. Come to think of it, several of those would fit well.

Very nice photos. Care to share your setup, lens, etc.?

Well my Nikon was actually stolen this past semester so I treated myself for my birthday to a new Canon t5i. Got the standard lens with it plus the 250mm. Made the switch for lens variability. plus being able to flip the LCD screen is nice to keep it from scratching.

A few days of a NE wind, and sub 20 temps will make you wish you were somewhere else in that sound if you are running a boat....

    Great photos. Great trip.

Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

Had to tell the "Kayak Kevin" story to all the guys at the house. They were in hysterics haha, I'm surprised he didn't show up in our spread to be honest.
