Strip those ugly ass decals off and put a new silver Scout emblem on it. Have seen some older boats where guys did that and it made a hell of a difference in the look of the boat.

I will take a job at Lowes too.

    My wife supports me.

Actually, my YZ450F pretty much covered this.

Good for you. My wife's education cost more than she makes, which does me no good.

Congrats on the purchase. Had a 155 and it was a fun little boat, 1000 times better than the key west 1520 I owned long ago.

Congrats! Should make for a good little boat.

One word of caution on those motors. There is a low oil sensor in the oil reservoir but there is nothing between the oil pump and the carb. So when the diaphragm goes out in the oil pump there won't be any lights or buzzers and the motor does not go into "SLOW" mode. You can probably figure out how I know that!

The folks who have those motors and either disconnected the oil pump or never had oil injection to begin with say they are pretty tough. I got 9 years of trouble-free use out of mine...but now I have a Yamaha and do my own mixing.

I've got the big brother to it, 99 155 SF w/ a 75 on it. Good little boats, wiring on them is a PITA to mess with if something ever goes crazy. Change that steering wheel out, it wi

Odd...I didn't know these little things had a 6'6" beam. Should be pretty damned stable.

    There are indeed wiring issues.

Didn't check navigation lights. They don't work. Dunno her if it is switch or bulbs. Bilge pump doesn't work. Not sure if switch or pump (which he didn't even know if there was one on the boat). VHF won't work. Gonna try to troubleshoot that by wire jumping, but I thin the unit is dead. It's a Cobra and the power / volume switch free-spins.

The stereo comes on, but the new speakers don't make a noise....

    It's a 15 year-old boat. I guess I should expect this shit.

That is easy shit, as long as it's not rotten and the motor runs and has decent compression you are good to go.

    Seems solid.

Bow light works. Cleaned corrosion around bulb.

Stern works. Bad connection @ bulb.

If I can fix the pumps and speaker, I'll be in business!

I found the silver Scout emblems.

I need a new steering wheel in stainless.

I am going to take the teal rub rail out of the channel and boil it in black Rit dye.

I've got to find some hatches or something for the access holes under the rear deck. I'll post pics later for ideas on that.

Otherwise, it'll be good to go after getting the pumps fixed.

Probably goin' to do a Keelguard, too.

Had one on the last few boats, but not sure if I need it on this little thing.

Think the Rit dye will work on the teal rubber?

Im kinda doubtful as the rubber is not porous to absorb the dye but Ive not tried it myself. Keep us posted if you try it, you might be on to something.

I'm gonna skip it and just buy a new one whatever color I wish.

I don't want color bleed running down my boat.
