It would behoove you to pony up the money and get it pumped for two reasons. #1 women have a tatical way of running a needle up our ass (some call it nagging) on things that even though they are wrong it is something that she would like to be done that will drive us straight out of our minds crazy. There is no time limit on this tactic and it will be brought up at any moment if something minor was to happen to your plumbing even if it has nothing to do with your septic in her mind it wouldn't have happened if you had that dam septic tank pumped! #2 I would rather pay a little money now just to be sure, then to clean turds out of my tub, shower, floors. I have done this in the past and I can assure you it was not one of my finest moments in life.

I'm probably going to have it checked. The thought of cleaning up turds makes the dollars spent seem insignificant.

Just pop the cleanout port/tank top off and poke a rod in there. You'll quickly find out how high the solids are piled.

The only problem I've had with my system was when TP bridged over the inlet 90 degree angle and backed up the pipe to the basement drain. If that inlet had been designed a little differently I'd never would have had a back-up. Now I just check it every few years to be sure it's flowing right.

For the record, my wife has bought a house that she is re-working. This week it was determined that the lower floor was never hooked to the city sewer. The single pot down there has remained hooked to the septic since the house was built in 65. It has never been cleaned out since installation. Seems the construction guys have overworked the capacity.

She is now looking to get septic tank people to figure out of it is still operational or if a pump is going to have to be installed to send the crap up the hill to the city sewer line.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

My grandparents had to have their tank pumped within the last year or so and I want to say it was around 350

Earlier this year I was told $425, with a $25/hatch discount if I dug them up and had them ready to open.
