    Default Smallmouth Fishing

We are heading up to the mountains next week, staying right outside of Bryson City in Whittier. We would like to try and catch some smallmouth. We have walked in on the French Broad (north of Asheville) before and had some success. We will be bringing kayaks with us this trip, and we are willing to travel.

Do any of you know where some decent spots are to put in and take out that have some decent fishing in the area? Thanks in advance.

French broad is hands down as good as it gets in the area
Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

That area is beautiful. One of my best friend's family, has a house right there in Whittier.

I think(know) you could find some rivers closer to where you are staying that have plenty of smallmouth. Call a fly shop in the area and see what they have to say. The french broad would a pretty good drive.

Try the river behind Fontana dam, also so good guides on the lake and may help with river access.

The lower stretches of the tuckaseegee and the little Tenn river can be very productive as well. Not much on size but numbers are hard to beat.
