Default Russia Threatens To Crash US Economy

    Could they do it?

Russia Threatens to Drop The Dollar and Crash The U.S. Economy if Sanctions Are Imposed - Obama Signs Sanctions Anyway

Is Russia bluffing, or is the world as we know it about to change for ever?

On Tuesday Reuters reported that a Kremlin aid Sergei Glazyev had announced that if the U.S. were to impose sanctions on Russia Moscow may drop the dollar as a reserve currency and refuse to pay off any loans to U.S. banks saying that Moscow could recommend that all holders of U.S. treasuries sell them if Washington freezes the U.S. accounts of Russian businesses and individuals.
    ▬ ▬ ▬
"We would find a way not just to reduce our dependency on the United States to zero but to emerge from those sanctions with great benefits for ourselves," said Glazyev.

"An attempt to announce sanctions would end in a crash for the financial system of the United States, which would cause the end of the domination of the United States in the global financial system."

    ▬ ▬ ▬
That statement is startling by itself, but the true gravity of this situation is only evident when you consider it in context. China has taken Russia's side in the Ukraine conflict (they are after all allies) and China holds the lion's share of U.S. treasuries. If Russia puts out the call to drop the dollar China would have a choice: either hold on to those treasuries while the dollar slides (losing their shirt in the process) or join Russia and dump their holdings as well. It should be pretty obvious which way China would go.

The effects of a coordinated bond sell off by China and Russia would be earth shattering. This would be the financial equivalent of a nuclear bomb being dropped. It is no exaggeration to say that such a move would mark the end of an era.

You would think that this would prompt some serious reflection and that diplomats would be scrambling to resolve this peacefully, but instead today Obama signed a sanction order anyway and revoked the visas of a number of Russian officials. All of this supposedly in response to the violence in Kieveven though we now have leaked phone conversations that indicate that it was in fact the new coalition government in Ukraine that was responsible for the shootings and that the West knows this. Combine this with the fact thatseveral U.S. officials met directly with known Neo-Nazi leaders prior to the coup in Ukraine and these sanctions are even more non-nonsensical.

    Yes they could.

It might be exactly what Obama (Soros et al) wants

They probably could... Why not just let them have Crimea? Like I don't give a fuck that they invaded or take it over or whatever. Never heard of Crimea till about two weeks ago and don't care about it now. Crimea looks like the size of Pickens county... Not worth even a chance of crashing US economy and if there own(crimeaians) are not willing to fight their invaders then why should I care who rules them? I mean has any one of these people unloaded a scatter gun? Have they shot at least one of the Russians?

How long would a invasion solider stand out in front of Greenville county square before I started picking them off??? ...it would take me about 10 minutes to drive over there and dig in•

These two retarded nimrods are fucking around and about to start a World War over a shit stain like the Ukraine. Obama's backed himself into a corner where if he doesn't do anything he looks like the pussy we all know he is. He blinks and American loses face to the entire globe, even more than we have.

Putin on the other hand has little to nothing to lose. Russia is still a shithole with little or no real world influence. This gives the populace something to believe in and fight for. Putin doesn't care if it means war, he'd sacrifice 1,000,000 men in order to punch the US in the nose.

This Admin may have finally found a hornets nest that's going to lay a can of whoopass on it. China backing the play is not a good thing and you can bet the two have been in talks and planning of this since Obama took the first oath of office. They've both played the SOSIC like a fiddle.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I caught one of the talking heads as I was falling asleep last night so I may be a little off. That question came up and essentially he sad they would sell them at a loss or pennies on the dollar to countries like PRNK, Iran, Venz, Col, MX and sort of spread it around. The way it was laid out was a plan to destroy the dollar and the world economy for a major reset and a new power to rise from the ashes. I think that was all a theory though.

Hell a barter system is more stable than our dollar right now.

I'd drop it too if I could.

Marxism was once a theory too. See where that got us? Nearly a billion dead, give or take a few hundred million.

It's hard for me to understand how that would hurt us worse than them. They take a beating on the Tbills they bought at market price by selling them dirt cheap. It's not money out of our pockets. The ability for us to sell more, i.e. borrow more money, would dry up and perhaps our so-called leaders would be forced to live within our means.

True but the Chinese and Russians don't see it that way or care. Their system isn't about happiness or fairness. It's about control and wealth for the few in power. Life of their people is cheap and to be used as an end to a means. Losing millions of people is quite frankly not a big deal if they improve their power in the world.

Putin sees a weakness in America and is spoiling for a fight. He also knows that with Obama his chances of winning that fight are much better than waiting to see what replaces him. And, he fully believes he can win and rebuild Russia to a better standing from the ashes.

This is exactly true. We've already taken the utility from the sale of the bond. It's like buying a fishing pole and giving the shop owner and IOU that you never intend on paying. Meanwhile, you're using the rod and reel to catch fish and eat. He's out and you're eating. But rest assured, the US government didn't do anything as wise or as practical as buying a fishing pole.

In the short term it would hurt them worse than us but they are looking at the long term. Their way of thinking isn't in line with ours. We think along the lines of prosperity and the economy, they think in terms of absolute power and rule.

Putin is in essence a warmonger and hard line communist. He's counting on China throwing in with him. Add in Iran and every other country opposed to America, he creates global chaos. In the end he believes that will benefit Russia and its allies while hurting America and bringing it to its knees.

If he is successful in the Ukraine, he won't stop there in his quest to assimilate the rest of the former USSR states to his control.
